The First Gustave & Cie Limited Edition Watch: The Léon 12H Silver and Linen

At Gustave & Cie, we have sought to redefine our relationship with time and the way we measure it on a daily basis. In a world driven by urgency and immediacy, our watches invite you to take a different look at the passing hours. More than a simple measuring instrument, they become a discreet reminder of the importance of living each moment with greater presence and intention.

Today, this vision reaches a new historical milestone for our house with the launch of our very first limited edition watch: the Léon 12H Silver and Linen.

Designed to break free from ephemeral trends, this new creation fuses French design culture with elegant and accessible horology. It embodies the culmination of our quest for meaning, offering much more than a mere technical object: a true personality to wear on your wrist.

The Léon 12H Silver and Linen Limited Edition combines a silver case with a textured dial inspired by natural linen, enhanced by a sand beige leather strap for a soft and timeless aesthetic.

The Léon Collection: A Tribute to Balance and Precision

The identity of Gustave & Cie was built on a strong idea: our collections consistently pay tribute to illustrious French historical, artistic, or scientific figures. While our name naturally echoes the visionary Gustave Eiffel, the Léon collection celebrates the genius of Léon Foucault. This French physicist is universally recognised for the famous experiment of his pendulum, which demonstrated the Earth's rotation.

Through the Léon collection, we wished to materialise the concepts of precision, perpetual motion, and balance. The Léon pays homage to Léon Foucault, recalling the link between physics and horology. It is a perfect incarnation of our vision of neo-vintage watchmaking. During the creation process, we drew our inspiration from mid-century horological classics. The objective was not to follow a trend, but to design a timeless, versatile piece of rare finesse.

The Inspiration for an Unprecedented Variation: The Elegance of Linen

The Léon 12H collection already exists in two particularly appreciated colours. For this first limited edition, we wanted to offer an unexpected variation, capable of awakening a new emotion. While the current trend in the watchmaking industry is massively shifting towards natural stone dials, we decided to step away from it. We were looking for a more subtle, warmer material, capable of embodying a discreet yet assertive presence.

This is how the idea for the Léon 12H Silver and Linen was born. Its central element is its sumptuous linen-effect textured dial. Far from smooth surfaces, this finish offers a delicately woven appearance that interacts with light in a remarkably organic way. Depending on the lighting and the angle of your wrist, the dial seems to come to life, revealing unsuspected nuances. This aesthetic choice deeply anchors this watch in classic horological references while granting it a unique neo-vintage identity.

A Unique Texture for 100 Numbered Pieces

The true magic of the Léon Linen lies in its absolute character of exclusivity. Because the linen texture interacts randomly during the dial's stamping process, each watch possesses a pattern that is entirely its own. No two dials are identical. The visual weave is never repeated, making each timepiece a truly singular work of art.

To highlight this exceptional character, this edition is limited to 100 pieces worldwide. Each piece is individually numbered.

On the back of the watch, the automatic movement is revealed through an exhibition caseback. The oscillating weight features an engraving inspired by the Foucault pendulum, while the individual numbering 000/100 recalls the limited nature of this edition.

Horological Excellence and French Craftsmanship

Beyond its poetic aesthetic, the Léon 12H Silver and Linen distinguishes itself through rigorous technical characteristics designed for lovers of fine horology. Its polished stainless steel case houses a double-domed sapphire crystal that enhances the dial while accentuating the retro spirit of the piece.

Classic elegance is ensured by applied indices and fine dauphine-style hands, subtly enhanced with Super-LumiNova to guarantee perfect nocturnal legibility.

The heart of this timepiece is powered by the renowned Miyota 9015 automatic movement. To perfect this mechanical experience, the transparent caseback reveals an exclusive rotor, whose engraving is directly inspired by the Foucault pendulum.

Finally, faithful to our commitments, this limited edition watch, imagined and designed in Paris, is assembled in Besançon, the historical capital of French watchmaking. Its interchangeable straps ultimately make it a highly versatile watch, ready to adapt to your style.
